"For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly." (Romans 5:6, ESV)
Thre are times in life we experience physical sickness. We become weak and, even helpless. And, during these times we respond by seeking help to get over this sickness. There is help available from family, friends and professional providers. Thus, our early conclusion is simply to 'get well, fast.' In respect to those who care, the better means to get past this sickness/weakness is to seek professional help. The results are we get well and strong again.
In view of this, the same is true with the souls of humanity. No matter the toil and struggle to overcome the sickness and weakness in our soul, we cannot 'get well' without the help of the Great Physician, Jesus! "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Rom. 3:23). And, because our condition was utterly helpless, it was the right time for God to demonstrate his love by sending his Son on our behalf (John 3:16; Gal. 4:4-7). Christ died for the unglody. God's supreme act of love came when we were in our most undesirable condition. At that time, nothing but the blood of Jesus would satisfy that need. "Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot" (1 Pet. 1:18-19).
